The Javanese

Let me introduce you to one of the Indonesian ethnicities with the most population in Indonesia, the Javanese.

I just realize that there are a lot of people in this world who do not know that Indonesia has more than 300 ethnicities, and we are speaking different languages in every area. This thing made me want to introduce more about Indonesian culture through my writing. Also, when I first lived abroad, ‘self-introduction” always becomes a concern for me because everyone thought that I speak Bahasa and English in my country meanwhile I am not using that language for my daily life, and I need to explain that my mother language is not Indonesia, but it is the Javanese language. Fun fact, I begin speaking Bahasa when I was in high school, and it was because my school is a private school in which the students came from every place in Indonesia. So, I was forced to speak Bahasa, and even though Bahasa is Indonesia's official language, it was awkward for me because since I was born I was never speaking in Bahasa. So, yeah there’s dialect at first when I speak Bahasa but amazingly, it’s gone after I graduated and when I moved to Jakarta a lot of people think that I’m not from Javanese, so when they asked me where I came from they were so shocked by the fact and I need to explain it over and over again.
